Who are the people on the Live Weddings Album?
I have been asked about this question numerous times since sharing the album, and I'm glad to finally share the story with you. Emily, Michael, and their daughter Heather are actual people—and they form the core of everything that we do here. The song 'Every Day I Choose You' were specifically created for them—and it's dedicated to their truly beautiful journey as a family. Their love and their story motivated every single note—making this song ever so special to my heart.
Can fans get chords or tabs for the songs?
At this time, we are not releasing official sheet music or note-for-note guitar tabs for the Cowboy Cadence archive. I have a free sample of one here.
Because our music is constructed upon an artist-led decision chain, many of the arrangements were created right then and there during our initial sessions between 1985 and 1995. Although the words and compositions are mine alone, the actual 'voicing' of the instruments was made possible through the special contributions of the original five members. Out of respect for the estates of those members and the very essence of our 'contemporary folk' sound, I have decided to store the particular technical arrangements within our private archive for now.
However, I invite any fellow musicians to 'learn by ear' while listening to the 24-bit restorations themselves. A part of the spirit of independent folk and western swing is one's own interpretation of a song. If you find a way to play a Cowboy Cadence track that really speaks to you, then you're upholding the tradition that we started right here on the ranch forty years back.
